Squire Davis fought with Captain William Gillham's Company from Morgan County, Illinois in the Blackhawk War in 1832.  After the war he was appointed a captain of militia by Governor Reynolds.⁷⁴   Their Children:

  Squire Davis went into business with his father after one year at Illinois College and began farming and stock operations until retirement. The two were closely and very successfully associated in the business which included purchasing cattle in Texas and driving them to Morgan County himself, there he fattened them for market and sold them at a high figure.

Beadles at Mexico, MO on 13 Aug 1874. ⁷²  The Masters owned a 300 acre cattle farm "with all the improvements that good taste could devise; and does a large business in the cattle trade... " ^A25  They had one son, William Thomas Masters.⁷²
